LESSON 15. WHAT'S THE MATTER?. Some modal verbs. The Present Perfect.

1. CULTURE SPOT. FOOD IN BRITAIN.

Watch and answer the following questions. 

a. What's the traditional English breakfast?
b. What do they normally have for lunch?
c. What is convenience food? Do you have to prepare it yourself?
d. When is the main meal?
c. Is Spanish food the most popular foreign food in Britain?
d. Do English teenagers normally like healthy food?

- Make a list with the new words in the documentary and translate them.


2- MODAL VERBS.

SHOULD és un verb modal que utilitzem per a donar consell (ADVICE) i va seguit per un infinitiu. Ex:

 You should study     Deuries estudiar

Learn ALSO the following expressions:

       What's the matter?   Qué passa?

        Are you all right?     Estàs bé?

SHOULD is not the only MODAL in English. There are other MODAL VERBS like the ones in the picture.

 3- THE PRESENT PERFECT.

Read the joke.

"I've had a headache for weeks" He tingut mal de cap durant setmanes.

"I've discovered the source of your problem"  He descobert l'origen del problema


Són dos exemples  d'ús del Present Perfect. Tot i el nom, este temps verbal no és present sinó passat!!!! L'acció és acabada, el que no ha acabat és el marc temporal (hui, esta setmana, enguany, la meua vida....etc). És d'ací d'on li ve el nom de present.
